Jose Antonio Puppim de Oliveira is a Senior Research Fellow at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), where he coordinates the Sustainable Urban Futures Programme and the Master of Science Programme in Environmental Governance. His work focuses on researching patterns of environmental governance and policy implementation at different levels, looking at how global policies are translated into local implementation. Before coming to UNU-IAS, he worked for the University College London (UK), the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV-EBAPE, Brazil) and the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), as well as for the OECD, the World Bank Institute, state and national governments, various NGOs and in the private sector. He has published six books and is the editor-in-chief of the journal Public Administration and Development. Jose holds a PhD in Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA).
