Just a minor point... tidal waves have nothing to do with typhoons (4th minute), the phenomenon that they speak about in Japanese is defined in English by the term "storm surge", and is related to the increase in sea level that goes together with the typhoon. This phenomenon results from the lower pressure at the centre of the typhoon (which makes sea level rise) and the forcing of the waves due to the high winds of the typhoon.

The term "tidal wave" is often used incorrectly in the English language to define this phenomenon and that of tsunamis (which also have nothing to do with tidal waves).

Dear Frank,

Thanks for this posting and the links to articles about the Japanese scientists. I remember reading about their comments back in February 2009.

In response can I direct you to GreenFyre's blog (http://greenfyre.wordpress.com/2009/03/29/jser-land-of-the-climate-warming-sun/), since he does a lot of work in this area and has looked in detail into the claims made by the aforementioned scientists. He also provides links to four other sites that dismiss the so-called "report" that they produced.

Here is a exerpt from GreenFyres blog that you might find informative. I qoute "the ‘report’ is nothing more than an email discussion among the participants … the end. No new information, no new analysis."

I would recommend that you read the full article on Greenfyres (and the other links) and draw your own conclusions.

Top Japanese Scientists: Global Warming Is NOT Caused By Human Activity

If humans are not causing global warming, can they do anything about it?
