In accordance with the UNU Charter (adopted in 1973), Our World seeks to:

• Provide a trusted, objective and editorially independent platform for academics to share their knowledge and expertise on contemporary affairs, particularly of relevance to the United Nations and its mandate.
• Provide the United Nations and its agencies, national policymakers, international non-governmental organizations, business leaders and the public with access to diverse perspectives, clear insights and expert knowledge on pressing global problems.
• Foster open communication, dynamic interaction and opinion exchange on the potential sustainable solutions.
