Dr. Hideki Kokubu was born in Mie prefecture. After graduating from the Science and Engineering Department of the University of Tsukuba Graduate School, he joined the Mie prefectural government. He also worked as a researcher at Mie Prefectural Science and Technology Promotion Center and is now a Senior Researcher at the Mie Prefecture Fisheries Research Institute Suzuka Branch. He received his Doctor of Engineering degree in March 2009. His “Environmental Restoration Project in Ago Bay by Collaborative Management of Fishermen, Industry, Governments and Researchers and Developing Technology to Create Tidal Flats and Eelgrass Bed by Recycling Resources” won the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Environmental Award 2001.
