Dr. Jiji Joseph is an Associate Professor at the College of Horticulture, Kerala Agricultural University. Her interests include collection and documentation of traditional crop varieties. She is also a member of the Intellectual Property Rights cell of Kerala Agricultural University and is working actively for the protection of farmers rights. Her work also involves acquiring geographical indicator status for several of Wayanad’s plants, including scented rices, Tellicherry bold pepper, Aleppy cardamom, and the medicinal njavara rice. As a plant breeder she was involved in the development of three varieties in rice released by Kerala Agricultural University.
